Back to Basics - 2020 Holiday Home Décor

Let’s face it, the 2020 holiday season will not be what any of us had in mind. But there’s no reason we can’t still make it a magical one. If this year has taught us anything, it’s how to do more with less. I call this trend “Back to Basics”. So here are my top 3 Back to Basic trends when it comes to 2020 holiday décor.

Burlap! This is a very affordable trend, that can be bought almost anywhere like Amazon or Home Depot (even during a lockdown). You can use it as a table runner, on the Christmas tree or as a tree skirt or accessories the base of your menorah. Cover a mason jar with burlap and your favourite ribbon, place some festive florals inside and you have yourself a centrepiece.

Everyone’s heard of a brown paper bag, well how about brown paper gift wrap?! Wrapping gifts with this can be incredibly beautiful. This allows for you to add your own touch to minimalistic beauty. Add some faux or real dried cranberries, oranges or cinnamon stick, some festive ribbon (metallics, plaid, classic red, old school string or anything that speaks to you) a piece of pine, or a piece of poinsettia. The sky is truly the limit with personal touches on this one.

Greens, and I don’t mean the kind on your plate, although you can totally use them to accessories your plates. Adding mini trees as centre pieces is one way to add a festive vibe to the table. Getting branches from your favourite nursery or even in your own backyard can do wonders. Longer branches laid flat down the centre of the table or on a mantel weaved between candles can add light, colour and a beautiful aroma to your home.

These are just a few of my “Back to Basics” holiday ideas, feel free to comment, DM or email us with any décor questions you may have, I’m always happy to chat or check out our Pinterest. I’d love to hear how you are decorating this holiday season in the comment section below!
